For every AHO pack sold one tree is planted!
All over the world modern marketing is doing it's best to assure us that our current lifestyle is green and sustainable as it is (greenwashing.) There's this idea that we can make the world a better place with just one purchase. Recyclable, reusable, green and light colours - that is what the packs (mostly still made of plastic) tell us.
But we at AHO are ready for real sustainability. We don't just want to minimise our impact by using the shortest possible transport routes and compostable packaging.
We would like to actively improve and preserve our planet more broadly. How can we achieve this? Planting trees has always been very important to AHO. This year alone we planted almost 15 trees on our own property. But that's not enough for us. We were looking for a cooperation that would help us to really make a difference.
In doing so, we became aware of “ Eden Reforestation Projects ”) and after a thorough discussion of this project team we decided to work with them.
This cooperation enables us to plant a tree for every package purchased. This means that with every purchase YOU actively do something for the environment and we plant a seedling in the ground together. Are you buying two packs? Two trees are planted. Three? Well then three. No matter how many packs you buy, together with Eden Projects we will plant a tree for each one.
We work with Eden Reforestation because they are very transparent - their statistics are open to all and can be viewed on the website-, and because their vision goes far beyond the planting of trees. Sure they want to preserve our planet in its beauty and diversity, but they also want to help people.
The project and its contributors are deeply concerned with enabling the inhabitants of deforested areas to enjoy a better quality of life.
Trees are planted in Nepal, Madagascar, Haiti, Indonesia, Mozambique and Kenya.
The recurring theme in these countries? Most people there live on a very low income. Many former forest areas have already been completely cut down. However, the life of the inhabitants is mostly shaped by nature and its current condition. Dying forests, dry soils, no food - all of this has a very negative effect on the people living there and is accordingly a key concern with regard to planting trees.
Eden Projects aims to solve two problems with a single solution. The work their projects create gives people an income that they can use to support their families. The planet is becoming greener and healthier and the negative consequences of deforestation are being counteracted. Large trees cast shadows and there is less drought. Some trees can also bear fruit and serve as a source of food.
We've already written a great many blogs about forests, trees, how you can grow them in your garden and deforestation. These topics are extremely important to us at AHO; a large part of our team do live in the forest, after all. So we can't be indifferent about the health of our green spaces, or how industries use our valuable resources. So be part of the change and take part in the replanting of the planet with us.
Stand with AHO. Help us make the world a greener place!
